Wool and Prince Stretch Canvas Pant Review

The Wool & Prince Stretch Canvas Pant has five pockets and is stretchy, soft, and durable, while also looking stylish. This is my initial review of these merino wool pants, after wearing it EVERY DAY for 2 weeks while traveling around Europe!

Note: If you’re interested, I also wore the Wool and Prince Waffle Henley every day on this trip as well - check out that review here.

Day 7: In Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland and loving the stretchiness of the Wool & Prince Stretch Canvas Pant

Sizing / Fit & Looks

Size

  • Original size ordered: 32/32

  • Alterations

    • Hemmed to 32/28

    • Tapered bottom half

As there were no options for my usual sizes (32/30 or 32/28) at the time of ordering, I hemmed the inseam to 28 inches. However, it does look like the pant’s product page has some 32/30 and 32/28 sizes currently in stock.

In addition, from the knee to the ankles, the pants flared outward a bit. Because I prefer a more slim fit, I got this area tapered.

Fit & Looks

After the two alterations described above, I think the resulting fit looked great! The pants initially felt tight around the thighs, but it loosened up after a few days of use.

Day 7: In Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland with the Wool & Prince Stretch Canvas Pant

Pros

  • 32 waist - the waist fit perfectly and felt very comfortable; I never needed to wear a belt

  • Gusseted crotch and overall stretchiness - I comfortably did all of our adventure activities in the pants (hiking, biking, mountain carts, toboggan rides, etc.)

  • Pant’s overall fit - AFTER I got it hemmed and tapered

  • Rain resistance - from my experiences walking around town and doing various activities in the rain, I’d say the pants are at least moderately water resistant

  • Quick drying - after usage in the rain, the pants would dry VERY quickly

Cons

  • No zippered pocket - for the price tag, it would’ve been nice to have a hidden zippered side pocket or back pocket to give extra security for i.e. my wallet, keys, etc.

  • Original fit was a bit odd - the area from the knee down to the ankle felt loose, so I had to get this area tapered

  • Price: At $188, this is the most expensive pants that I own. I wish that it’d be more approachable in terms of price, but quality ain’t cheap!

Conclusion

The Wool & Prince Stretch Canvas pant is super durable, soft, and stretchy. It resisted rain, stains, and odors every day during my 2-week trip in Europe (in late October - early November) across 3 countries.

I’ll update this review with my long term thoughts in the future, but for now - these are my favorite pair of pants and I highly recommend them for traveling and everyday use.

I hope you found this review helpful. If you haven’t already, check out my video review linked earlier in this post - it’s full of beautiful scenery from my trip!

Happy journeying,

Jeremy
